dc.description.abstractThe matter of this paper is an empirical analysis of some social attitudes of power elites in Serbia and Croatia that are connect with ethnocentrism as value orientation. The ethnocentrism was observe in relation of trust between different nations; ideal of a national state; security in a national mixed areas; stability of a national mixed marriages; significant of a nationality as marriage criteria and a national distance in working relations. The data says that there are many respondents in any individual questions that accept the attitudes or accept a national distance. The conclusion is that in the power elites before Yugoslav state disintegration was strong nationalistic potential and that elites as social groups with big social power cannot to make either modernization of political and economical system or to stop Yugoslav state disintegration.en
