The subject of this paper is DEA method, one of new methods of operations research which is very successfully used in the last several years for assessing relative efficiency of organizational units having multiple inputs to produce multiple outputs. DEA is initially developed to evaluate the efficiency of public sector non-profit organizations, such as schools and hospitals, but area of its applications is extended later. The authors of DEA defined the efficiency of unit under evaluation as the ratio of the sum of its weighted outputs to the sum of its weighted inputs, but an application procedure for DEA consists of solving linear programming tasks for each of units under evaluation. In this paper the most important concepts and basic DEA models are presented. Also, one example with graphical illustrations of basic concepts is given.en
