Business process management (BPM) has a central role for creating sustainable competitive advantage, but there is still large number of unsuccessful BPM projects. Business process improvement (BPI) is important phase of BPM lifecycle and for BPI a main decision-making task is t. prioritizes processes that should be improved and managed. The purpose of this paper is to examine the way formalized approach to business process prioritization (BPP) impacts adoption of BPM in organization. BPM adoption was measured through Process performance index (PPI). A survey research was conducted on a sample of 91 manufacturing and service companies in Serbia and collected data were analyzed using statistical package SPSS. The results suggest that companies with larger extent of BPP formalization have higher PPI. This shows that BPP formalization is positively related to success of BPM adoption. By formalizing the procedure for BPP, it is possible to efficiently make decisions about processes that need to be improved and managed, which ensures more successful adoption of BPM in organizations.en
