The environment debate is over. Being "green" is no longer fashionable or glamorous, it is a new fact of business life and life itself. Organizations are "waking up" to the fact that sound environmental management is simply sound business management. The debate about quality and health and safety several years ago established these factors as cornerstones of effective business practice just as environmental issues are here to stay. There is strong evidence that many organizations are already expecting their suppliers to adopt a more environmentally responsible attitude and this new business ethos had led, in many cases, to the requirement for suppliers to have a certified EMS in place in order to do business. Every business activity has the potential to generate environmental impacts (from the consumption of raw materials and energy, to the generation of waste in its many forms, to the distribution of products and services, their use by the consumer and their final disposal). Designing eco/environmentally-friendly products (by using design for environment) and services is high on everyone's environmental economic, social and political agenda. Design for environment implies necessity evaluation of environmental suitability of product by criteriums of environmentally suitability, in accordance with the basic principals and postulates of sustainable development.en
