Building public key infrastructure for e-government

Abstract

Introduction of e-business in government necessitates the framework for secure information handling. This means that all necessary information protection measures have to be in place in the e-Government systems, so that the possibility of the information loss or unauthorized change can be minimized. Therefore, it is necessary to develop solutions and define procedures and measures which will secure information communication and create the mechanisms for their implementation. One part of the information protection solution is the implementation of Public Key Infrastructure. This paper deals with the Public Key Infrastructure construction methodology. The example of the PKI construction is developed and implemented in the Statistical Office of the Republic of Serbia.
