The aim of this paper is to investigate and assess whether the skills needed by middle managers in Serbia are the same as the skills needed by managers in the West. The core of the paper is the survey which included 500 middle managers in different companies in Serbia. The aim was to identify the skills needed by middle managers in Serbia, in order to effectively carry out their managerial roles and to compare their skills to Western managers. The survey confirmed the hypothesis that middle managers in Serbia need similar skills, as well as managers in developed countries. The results of this paper can be used in the selection and recruitment of managers and can help in improving program of education and innovation of managerial skills.en
