Web based learning environment as a passive Web document

Abstract

In this paper we present a concept of a Web-based learning environment formed as a passive Web document. We outline a method for translation of a knowledge base into a framework of HTML documents, and we present the Defector, a recently developed web based learning environment for diagnosing malfunctions on cars, as a larger scale example. We discuss the advantages of this concept, and give an idea of a commercial exploitation of such a system, regarding the system with this kind of knowledge representation as a new marketing instrument.
