Abstract: In the previous period, student activism has represented one of the areas that provided young people
with the most opportunities for personal development and progress. Non-formal education has been a
very attractive topic in recent years and volunteer experience through activism is climbing the ladder of
what employers value the most. As the IT industry is among those with the greatest growth and progress,
enabling students to gain valuable practical experience during their education is important. Speaking
about the transformation of the IT sector, the increasingly widespread application of agile methodologies
in business can be considered the most significant non-technical change. This paper aims to analyze
the possibility of introducing agile methodologies into the work of a student organization. The idea is to
contribute to the more efficient and improved work of the student organization and the realization of the
projects it manages, by introducing an agile approach to work. The paper is based on the research of
the current way of working on projects in the organization. It is necessary to identify critical areas that
can be improved. In the following, concrete frameworks and capabilities of their tools are studied and
analyzed, in relation to the needs of the organization. The background for the research is a survey
conducted among the members of the organization who managed the projects. The motive running
through this paper is the possibility that studying these two topics together can bring great progress and
improve the ultimate level of readiness of students in IT for the business environment. This is an added
value that students bring from the faculty, and any opportunity to connect theory and practice is
encouraged.
