The paper presents one possible approach to creating adaptive e-education courses. The primary goal of the paper is to develop a method for creating adaptive courses within the e-learning management system Moodle. The approach the authors have chosen to present is based on adjusting the existing e-education system, rather than developing a completely new solution. The basic requirements and steps in the course adaptation are defined. Data collected in the research was used for discovering characteristic groups of students, and then classifying students into these groups. In the analysis of the collected data the business intelligence techniques were used. In accordance with the research findings, the final adaptation of courses was carried out in the real system of distance education at University of Belgrade, in the Laboratory for e-business, Faculty of Organizational Sciences. After evaluation, it was concluded that the students’ achievements were higher when they attended courses adapted using the described method, in comparison to the nonadaptive e-learning courses.
