ECOLOGICAL RESPONSIBILITY AND ENVIRONMENTAL ACTIVISM IN KRUŠEVAC: RESIDENTS’ ATTITUDES

Abstract

This paper explores the attitudes of residents of Kruševac towards environmental responsibility, their environmental awareness and education, as well as their behaviour and environmental activism. The aim of the study is to determine the relationship of Kruševac residents to environmental protection as an indispensable element of sustainable development. The results of a survey conducted among 169 residents of Kruševac show that citizens recognize the importance of environmental responsibility and are interested in environmental topics, but there is a lack of confidence in their own awareness and space for improvement in adopting environmentally responsible behaviours. The paper emphasizes the need for further improvement of environmental education and citizen engagement in the local community.
