Abstract: The holistic environmental approach to research in the field of sport talent
development questions the roles of the entire ambient of the environment in which the
talent is being developed. The assumption of such research is that the environment
influences an athlete significantly during his or hers development. In the process of
talent development in professional sports, sport psychology has been implemented for a
long time, and it has become an important factor in the optimization of team or
individual athlete performances. As a part of sport psychology the influence of the
environment on psychological health and performances of the person going through
practices is being researched. This paper has a goal to show a review of possibilities
and limitations and to research the terms in which the choice of the environment and the
organization of practices are conducted by applying the experience from sport
psychology from an environmental perspective in order to achieve optimal athlete
performance.
