This paper presents the development of system for noise measurement in traffic in smart cities. Noise reduction in human environment may contribute to improve the quality of life in the big cities in which the crowds are a part of everyday life. The aim of this paper is to develop a system for measuring noise in traffic. The noise measurement system is designed, implemented and tested, and it is based on the Internet of Things and big data technologies. Web and mobile applications have been developed to support the system. The mobile application enables fast and efficient collection of large amounts of noise data from different parts of the city. The analyzed data have been compared with legally defined norms and if the norms are not fulfilled, the application warns the competent city authorities that the problem of noise pollution needs to be solved.
