Abstract: Pitanja zaštite životne sredine - posebno smanjenje ugljenikovog traga - predstavljaju jedan od ključnih motiva za uvođenje alternativnih pogonskih goriva u automobilskoj industriji. .
Environmental purposes - particularly lower carbon footprint - are one of the crucial motives for introduction of alternative automotive fuels. Biofuels were strongly favoured a couple of years ago not only because they present a highly evolutionary change and can gradually substitute conventional fossil derived fuels but they seemed also a highly environmentally friendly solution. However, it has become increasingly evident that an aggressive introduction of biofuels at any price can bring numerous negative environmental influences. The present paper presents a comparison between environmental impacts of biofuels, conventional fossil derived fuels as well as some other ways of alternative fuels or driving modes (hydrogen and battery electrical vehicles). .
